October: Month of the Holy Rosary / Respect Life

squash.jpg

Traditionally, October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary and more recently, to the sanctity of human life. We can easily see the connection between Our Lady, who bore the Savior, and the precious life in the womb (and all the vulnerable). We can also easily combine the two, by reciting the Rosary diligently this month, for the intention of life. As the world unravels, all the more important it is to seek God’s mercy through prayer…and to participate in whatever pro-life activities we can this month.

Most importantly, we celebrate the traditional feast of Christ the King on October 25th. Below is a listing of additional notable feasts. There is only one Doctor of the Church, Saint Therese of Lisieux, who extraordinarily acquired this title after spending only 24 years on this earth. We have a feast for the Guardian Angels and also St. Raphael the Archangel. We have 2 Marian feasts, along with the 103rd anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun on the 13th (don’t forget our Fatima Holy Hour!). Also, two 20th century popes and several great visionaries, including St. Faustina Kowalska (this is the first year of her feast, which was announced in May!). Our month concludes with All Hallows Eve, the Triduum of Death.

3 Reasons to Vote Pro-Life.....

1)  The baby is made in the Image and Likeness of Almighty God from the moment of conception.  We are all like little pieces of God....precious and sacred and awesome.

2)  Abortion prevents someone from embarking on his or her unique life journey.....a path that can never be walked by anyone else.  Lives will never be touched, moments will never be experienced....no one will ever hear that voice or look into those eyes.  This person has been deprived of living the life and having the destiny that once was lying ahead with great promise....forever unfulfilled.

3)  The baby the mother feels burdened by at this moment, will one day love her back.  Perhaps, just as she lovingly chooses life and brings this baby into the world, this child will one day enfold her as she passes to the next.

       AND HERE'S ONE MORE REASON!

       AND HERE'S ONE MORE REASON!

These are just a few more arguments to add to your pro-life arsenal.

I became involved with the pro-life movement back in the 80's, before the internet.  It was a great frustration trying to provide people with proof of fetal development that they would accept.  Now there is info and pictures of actual miscarried babies all over the internet, such as the one above. We also have much better imaging now of the baby in the womb.  There is no reason for any woman to be ignorant of the reality of the baby in her womb any longer!

BUT....due to all the early chemical abortions and abortifacients, we must also argue that the baby is sacred from the moment of conception-the stage of development makes no difference.

Feel free to email this to your friends....only a few days before the election!

Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade Decision

Mary, Mother of God, Patroness of the United States of America, pray for the unborn

Saint Joseph, Foster-Father of Christ, pray for the unborn

Saint Vincent of Saragossa, Martyr, pray for the unborn

Saint Anastasius, Martyr, pray for the unborn

May we keep the unborn children in our prayers today, along with all elderly and handicapped who may be in danger of euthanasia, or like dear Terri Shiavo, outright murder. Lord have mercy. Also, those men and women who have experienced abortion, that they may be reconciled and healed. May we pray for all attending the March for Life in Washington DC, that they may stay safe and give a courageous witness of truth to our nation and the world.

Here are a few verses from the Douay-Rheims Bible, which speak to the pro-life cause:

"Before I formed thee in the bowels of thy mother, I knew thee: and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee." ~Jeremias 1:5

"And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy." ~Luke 1:41

"...no murderer hath eternal life abiding in himself." ~1 John 3:15

Every individual is called at this time to stand up for life, to do something for the cause, even if it is simply to pray. Perhaps when God's wrath comes upon the world, places where the fight for the innocent has been staunchly waged, will be given some measure of mercy. "What goes around comes around."
